INTRODUCTION
As an Account Executive your primary responsibility is to drive business growth by identifying and acquiring new clients for the organization. Your role involves building relationships, generating leads, and closing deals to expand the client portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify potential clients through various channels such as online research, networking events, referrals, industry associations, and social media. Use your expertise to qualify leads and determine their potential as clients.
- Client Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients. Understand their business needs, challenges, and goals. Act as a trusted advisor, providing insights and recommendations on how your company's products or services can add value to their organization.
- Consultative Selling: Conduct thorough needs assessments to understand the client's requirements and pain points. Develop tailored solutions that align with their objectives and present them in a compelling manner. Use consultative selling techniques to demonstrate the value and benefits of our company's offerings.
- Proposal Development: Assist in the creation of persuasive proposals, presentations, and pitches tailored to each client's specific needs. Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing and product development, to develop compelling and customized proposals that highlight the unique value proposition of your company.
- Negotiation and Closing: Lead negotiations with clients to reach mutually beneficial agreements. Handle objections and address concerns effectively to overcome potential barriers to closing deals. Work closely with the legal team to ensure contracts and agreements are in place.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities and opportunities in the CRM system. Track and manage your sales pipeline, ensuring that all leads are appropriately followed up and nurtured throughout the sales process.
- Market and Competitor Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities. Continuously gather market intelligence to identify new opportunities and adjust your sales strategies accordingly.
- Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing and customer success, to ensure a smooth handoff of new clients and facilitate successful onboarding. Provide regular reports and updates on your sales activities, including pipeline status, client acquisition metrics, and revenue forecasts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sales or business development (preferably in a B2B environment), selling to Life Sciences, Pharma, Higher Education and Government bodies.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong networking, lead generation skills - should have a personal “book of business”.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Results-driven mindset with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Experience with complex enterprise sales (multi-month sales cycles).
- Ability to understand client needs and develop tailored solutions.
- Familiarity with CRM software and sales productivity tools.
- Knowledge of the industry and market trends.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
