Job Description
The Senior Accountant - Retained Accounting is responsible for in-depth analysis and recording of accounting topics that require experience and knowledge to find solutions and ensure the integrity of our adidas Canada financial records. Furthermore, this role will act as an interlink between our Global Business Services function and various business & finance functions here in NAM.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coding of all domestic & foreign purchases, for all brands to proper GL accounts.
- Coding of all freight, duty bills and other related invoices.
- Providing accruals for any outstanding product, utilities, freight, or duty invoices, for month end closings.
- Reconciliation of specific special vendors to statement and intercompany balances.
- Timely follow up on all GIT, AP and accrual accounts.
- Preparation and submission of monthly payments to related and non-related vendors.
- Responsible for coordinating with Logistics and Finance Departments.
- Support in processing and validating regular overhead and workflow invoices.
- Managing cheque runs, EFT payments and bank enquiries on payments as needed.
- Timely payment of taxes and keeping track of payments made for taxes e.g., sales tax, withholding tax, corporate taxes.
- Prepare/post journal entries in collaboration with GBS Team as needed.
- Perform GL analysis of transactions in SAP, as required.
- Provide support in other areas of accounting as per IFRS, as required.
- Support during external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and bridge to connect the appropriate team members.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Exceptional administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Strong proficiency in software packages including Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, with a focus on IFRS.
- Must be extremely proactive, have strong initiative and be self-motivated.
- Good problem-solving skills; strong decision-making skills; innovative use of IT tools and new technology; and good time management and priority setting skills required.
- Good understanding of overall business workflow and process understanding.
- Must be adaptable and be flexible in a changing environment.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:University or College Degree preferred, and at least 3-5 years of job experience.
