Rachael A. Mella Professional Corp. seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant Associate to join our public accounting firm in Prince Edward Island. Working in a small team environment, you will maintain accurate financial records, prepare financial statements, analyze data, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. As the ideal candidate, you have a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Location:
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (Occasional travel to Montague office)
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Compilation, Review and Audit financial statements using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to clients to support informed decision-making and improve financial performance.
- Review, manage and deliver year-end files, personal tax returns, corporate tax returns and other government filings, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and identifying opportunities for tax optimization.
- Mentor, manage, and oversee junior team members and client workflow.
- Provide necessary documentation and assistance during external audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry practices to ensure compliance and guide clients on relevant matters.
- Collaborate with clients to provide financial advice and guidance on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support their business objectives.
- Utilize accounting software and other relevant tools to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.

As Senior Accountant Associate in our public accounting firm, you will work in a professional, collaborative, small-team environment. You will be able to engage with a diverse client base, including individuals, small businesses, and corporations.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation licensed to practice in public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE, ASPNO, PSAB, and Canadian General Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Proficient in using accounting software and tools such as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Sage, Excel, MS Word and Caseware/Caseview.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed, to meet client deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with industry changes.
- Ability to identify and recommend technology and process improvements.
Compensation:
- $65,000 – $75,000 per annum
- Flexible work schedule (Monday-Friday)
- Overtime hours are required during busy tax season.
