Job Description
We are looking for a corporate accountant to join our fast-paced finance team. As the corporate accountant, you will be a key contributor to the finance team working along with the Controller. You will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting processes and ensuring accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely. You will also support financial planning, reporting and analysis. This role is right for you if you have strong accounting technical knowledge and analytical skills, and this role is a great opportunity for you to exercise and enhance them.
Responsibilities:
- Manage customers’ invoicing information in collaboration with other departments.
- Prepare and send customers’ invoices and record revenue in accordance with IFRS 15.
- Review aging AR reports regularly and perform collection as needed.
- Review and record expense transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review expenses regularly to ensure appropriate GL accounts are applied.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements daily and perform month end reconciliations.
- Perform multiple reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Record and balance intercompany transactions.
- Take the ownership of various continuity schedules (e.g. prepayment schedule, fixed assets schedule, accrued receivable/liabilities, unearned revenue schedule etc.).
- Prepare month end schedules and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with month end closing procedures including but not limited to the preparation of journal entries in accordance with continuity schedules and accruals and foreign currency revaluation.
- Assist with month end financial reporting (e.g. MoM variance analysis, Actual vs. Budget variance analysis and prepare commentaries).
- Assist with external audit processes as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Assist with budget and forecast process.
- Support in the preparation and filing of GST/HST remittances.
- Assist in monitoring and reviewing accounting processes and procedures and recommend changes as appropriate to improve efficiencies and/or internal controls.
- Ad hoc assignments as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum two years working experience of corporate accounting.
- Detail-oriented, self-sufficient, resourceful, organized, and proactive.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Solid understanding of IFRS.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Good communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to long-term growth and learning opportunities.
- Experience with VAT return and ICP return in EU is considered an asset.
