Our Guelphlocation manufactures HVACs (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning) and ECMs (Engine Cooling Modules). At this time we have an exciting Accounting Specialist opportunity to add to our team.
ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST OPPORTUNITY
Responsibilities for the Accounting Specialist position include:
- Accounts Payable responsibilities such as processing invoices, creating and maintaining vendor profiles, ensure vendors are paid in accordance with established terms, printing cheques.
- Reconcile and submit related month end and year end accounting reports.
- Inter-company reconciliation and communication with affiliates
- Reconcile A/P Balance with statements, received not voucher and various accrued accounts
- Communicate and interact with Vendors, Affiliate Companies, Purchasing, and Other Departments
- Participate in the year-end audit activities: JSOX self-assessment
- Perform monthly accruals and journal entries
- Analyze various monthly reports
- Oversee Custom Compliance, including update HS codes, maintain and update internal shipping documentation (SIR), creating/qualifying USMCA certificates or nonqualifying certificate, customs RSF and monthly remittances.
Requirements:
Candidate must have completed college/university education preferably in Business/Accounting and working towards an accounting designation.
Minimum 3 years accounting experience, strong computer skills such in Microsoft Office and accounting software (Oracle would be an advantage).
The successful candidate must work accurately; have the ability to multi-task and be able to work with minimal supervision.
He or she must adhere to accounting policies and procedures. He or she must be a team-oriented individual with excellent work ethic, possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferences:
Knowledge of Customs Compliance and related activities. Experience in other functional areas in accounting department and excellent time management skills. Team player and ability to co-ordinate with other departments.
This is a contract position - 18 months.
