Job Description
Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair company, located in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a Refinery Accounting Analyst. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Lubricants Accounting, the Refinery Accounting Analyst is responsible for managing and supporting the monthly material management for the Petro-Canada Lubricants Plant and conducts moderately complex to complex yield accounting assignments with limited supervision.
- Maintains and analyzes daily refinery yields (volumetric)
- Work closely with several internal departments (Pumping and Shipping, Production Control, Marine Group, Lubeplex and Operations) to reconcile and confirm inventory volumes and troubleshoot when issues arise
- Review and analyze production data and produce reports on performance of all production activities and yields (RO31)
- Completes refinery month-end close by obtaining information from various reports, entering it into the system and verifying that debits and credits balance (Production Accounting Report (PAR))
- Audits orders, transactions and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement (PAR Reconciliation)
- Investigate and reconcile various inventory losses and gains
- Reviews, analyzes and develops solutions for problems or variances relating to inventory arising within refinery
- Assist with coordination with carrier companies and manage drivers to ensure only authorized personnel are allowed to move product inside our safety sensitive site
- Work in partnership with cross functional teams on internal and external audits that occur
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and key stakeholders and offer strategic recommendations and advice on performance measures
- Optimize and automate existing business processes and the upkeep of existing Excel-based Macros
- Back-up to co-worker in small team
- Ability to understand and interpret the Daily Plan of Operations for intended material inventory movements
- Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP
- SAP experience is preferred (Modules: FI, GL, MM)
- Prior refining operational and/or manufacturing reporting is preferred
- Post -secondary education
- College Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance or related field is preferred
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Strong ability to manage and analyze detailed inventory movements across multiple locations
- Intermediate ability to perform accounting analysis as needed
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Ability to work in a team environment with strong time-management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in revenue accounting is preferred
- This is an office-based role within a petroleum refinery environment
- Desk work on computers for long periods of time
- May be required to work flexible hours especially on the first two business days of the month
