Job Summary
The Branch Accounting department handles the accounting for all of the branches across Canada. This position reports directly to the Branch Accounting Assistant Manager and shall have the overall responsibilities to process vendor invoices for payment in the accounting system and communicate with the vendors for any unpaid invoices. Other responsibilities include preparing adjustments and troubleshooting with other departments relating to payments to vendors or other Nippon Express Group companies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices for payment including invoices that require rush payments
- Ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner based on payment terms
- Respond to inquiries from vendors or other departments within Nippon Express Canada
- Review and maintain open AP balances and investigate debit entries to AP
- Other tasks and projects as may be required.
Qualifications/Competencies
- Minimum 1-2 years of direct work experience in an accounts payables or accounting
- Basic knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping,
- Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting software, AS400 and SAP preferred.
- Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
- Able to perform simple account reconciliations.
- Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills in order to handle late payments and delinquent accounts.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, in English and in French (a preferred)
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
Educations/Certifications
- High school diploma required or equivalent experience
- College degree in bookkeeping or accounting preferred
