The Opportunity:
The Intermediate Accounting Associate will be primarily responsible for functions including supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process. This position has significant responsibility for analyzing and reporting the financials by applying principles of accounting to perform duties at a high standard.
As an Intermediate Accounting Associate, you will:
Month-End Close:
- Supports the month end process including recording journal entries, as required, and reconciliations.
- Assistance preparing monthly financial statements.
- Contribute to detailed cost center analysis, research irregularities, and propose corrections.
- Assist the Controller to perform initial financial department audits to ensure compliance with accounting policies.
- Assist and support intercompany reconciliation.
- Assist and support intercompany transfers as required
- Support project accounting to ensure proper treatment of multiple element arrangements, revenue recognition, and accounting for project obligations.
Additional Job Duties:
- Manage transactional activity to ensure projects are properly closed and accounted for in the local ERP.
- Prepare annual assessment and calculations for labor and overhead rates, distribute to required functions and manage ERP input for proper cost calculations on projects.
- Prepare bad debt analysis and required accruals
- Communicate and ensure compliance of accounting policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in team projects, including but not limited to SOX testing and audits.
- Successfully manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.
- Partner with accounting teams to analyze balance sheet and P&L variances to forecast.
- Responsible for warranty accrual and analysis
- Responsible for monthly WIP (project work-in process) inventory reviews with project teams to ensure accurate balances reported
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual stats required
Danaher Business System (DBS) :
- Embrace and utilize a culture with regular kaizen activities, leveraging daily management and continuous process improvement to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
- Solves technical problems, evaluating systems and or processes to determine root cause and implement corrective actions as required, engaging subject matter experts as needed
- Continuously improve our execution plans for projects, drive improvements thru Danaher Business System tool
- Ability to travel 10% of time
Are you qualified? The essential requirements of the job include:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Working knowledge of US GAAP required
- 3-5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in Management Accounting (i.e. understanding of entries/double entries in finance)
- Experience with budgets, P&L, and balance sheet
- Intermediate Excel skills (including v-lookup and formula execution)
- Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis
- Use of financial reporting tools including experience with a large ERP, Hyperian (Onestream), Power BI
It would be a plus if you also possess:
- Experience in project accounting
- Advantage in holding, or close to obtaining, a professional accounting designation – CPA, CMA
- Knowledge of absorption accounting
- Knowledge of municipal and industrial water market landscape
