Nature & Scope:We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant with a strong understanding of accounting principles to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Intermediate Accountant will help lead specific portfolios and works closely with other Accounting Staff and Finance Managers. The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for supporting the full range of accounting cycle duties and responsibilities for the YMCA BC (YBC).
The YMCA BC is a CPA Pre-approved Program Route (PPR) office.
Major Responsibilities:
- Preparing adjusting entries at month end including sub-ledger entries and accruals
- Performing various account reconciliations
- Preparing and analyzing operational financial statements for branches and programs
- Working with other departments to correct procedures and resolve issues
- Assisting in preparation of year-end audit working papers
- Managing processes and monitoring compliance while highlighting areas of improvement and efficiencies
- General accounting responsibilities to contribute to the overall workflow of the department
- Assisting with other accounting tasks as needed
Skills & Qualifications:- Enrollment in CPA program or equivalent combination of skills and experiences
- Completion of an accounting diploma or degree, an asset
- Minimum two years experience in accounting environment (not for profit preferred)
- Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work within a team and independently
- Ability to consistently meet all deadlines
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/ Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
- The YMCA has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy requiring all staff and volunteers to be fully vaccinated, as per the timeline set out by the province.
