An exciting opportunity is now available as part of finance change program to recruit a new Accounting Manager (US & CAN), reporting into the Regional Head of External Reporting and Statutory Accounting (Americas) in our Toronto office. Our external reporting team is imperative to ensure compliance and to maintain an effective control environment. We strive to hire and develop highly engaged skilled professionals that will provide support to our business.
The role is responsible for:
- Planning and coordinating the preparation of financial statements and audit of US & Canadian entities with Senior Accountants
- Preparing technical accounting papers
- Oversight of statutory WIP process from business to auditors for the Americas Region entities
- Detail review of the statutory working papers, financial statements and note disclosures, memos and process documentation prepared by the team
- Managing the operational activities for the above, ensuring alignment, coherent accurate and insightful reporting. The role will require working in close collaboration across the finance functional areas in the Region and Global Statutory Team
- Acting as a point of contact with the External Audit teams for any escalations of audit findings or audit delays and supporting the Regional Head of External Reporting and Statutory Accounting
- Leading and mentor a team of accountants
- Finding opportunities where processes for your area can be enhanced for efficiency, automation, and improved control
- Helping drive the documentation of best practice processes and procedures to ensure effective control frameworks are built into the processes and risks are identified and addressed.
Qualifications
- 6 or more years of total experience with 2 years or more directly supervising staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or equivalent
- Qualified Accountant (CPA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Technical experience in end-to-end External Reporting, Finance and Statutory Accounting environments
- Ability to listen, demonstrate empathy and remain calm when under pressure
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in an agile and collaborative manner within a complex and changing business environment
- Computer literacy in MS Office including deep experience in Excel and Word
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning solutions e.g., Oracle/JDE would be advantageous but not a prerequisite
- Experience in delivering Continuous Improvement initiatives for finance related processes,
- Encouraging innovative thinking and collaboration.

Benefits are not included in the base salary.
