Job Description
Rachael A. Mella Professional Corp. seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Technician to join our public accounting firm in Prince Edward Island. Working in a small team environment, you will play a key role in assisting with maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and providing general accounting support. As the ideal candidate, you have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including recording transactions, preparing journal entries, and reconciling accounts.
- Assist in processing payroll, including calculating employee hours, preparing pay stubs, and ensuring compliance with payroll remittances and related filings.
- Assist clients in maintaining the general ledger, including posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data of clients’ accounts.
- Enter financial data into accounting software systems accurately and efficiently.
- Gather and organize relevant documentation for personal and corporate tax returns.
- Prepare other government remittances, such as HST filings.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as filing documents, organizing records, and maintaining electronic and physical filing systems.

Attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency are essential in this role.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, or finance.
- Proven experience working as an Accounting Technician, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Proficient in using accounting software and tools such as QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Sage, Excel, MS Word and Caseware/Caseview.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed, to meet client deadlines.
Compensation:
- $40,000 – $50,000 per annum
- Flexible work schedule (Monday-Friday)
- Overtime hours are required during busy tax season.
