Job Description
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) position will serve patients of the medical clinic by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately. The primary goal of a Medical Office Assistant is to enhance the patient’s care experience, improve clinical outcomes and quality of life. Glendon Medical Clinic is currently seeking a full-time staff member to join their team.
Qualifications for MOA Position:
- Certified Medical Office Assistant (preferred)
- 2-3 Years Medical Office Assistant Experience
- High School Diploma
- Microsoft Office Suite programs
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone call while providing basic information when needed.
- Take and relay messages appropriately.
- Maintain security by following procedures and controlling access.
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, faxing etc.
- Booking patients, scanning in files, monitoring incoming faxes etc. Update patient information as necessary
- Doing pre-visit prep work such as preparing routine lab questionnaires and consults, gathering vital signs, BMI, blood pressure etc.
- Update medication lists, patient history and problem lists etc.
- Book follow-up appointments
- Complete various lab tests such as urine dip, pregnancy tests etc.
- Completing referrals as necessary
- Complete requisitions for pre-visit blood work etc.
- Ensure samples are labeled correctly and transport to lab.
- Prepare exam room with appropriate equipment.
- Clean exam rooms using approved cleaning supplies.
- Stock exam rooms
- Clean and sterilize materials/instruments following universal precautions.
- Check inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
- Follow clinic guidelines, protocols and participate in review process.
- Participate in team meetings as needed.
- Promote healthy lifestyle choices.
