FTE: 35 hours per week

The Position:
The Palliser School Division is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant – Human Resources to join our team. This position is a temporary assignment ~ 35 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and implementation of human resource programs to enhance the employment experience for staff at Palliser, located at the Palliser Education Centre in Lethbridge, AB.
The primary responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, orientation, HR reporting, absence support, and HRIS maintenance. The successful candidate will collaborate with schools, worksites, and payroll to ensure effective processes are in place to serve employees and meet employment obligations of the division. Reporting to the Supervisor of Human Resources, the Administrative Assistant – Human Resources is a key contact for staff as they navigate HR systems and supports through their employment relationship with the division.
We are looking for experience in performing the following:
- Maintaining HRIS systems and interfacing HR and payroll information
- Knowledge of applicable employment legislation, labour relations, and collective agreement interpretation
- Experience with short and long-term absence management, disability support, WCB, and workplace accommodation.
- Experience in a school setting.

Education and Experience Required:
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Administrative Office Professional or equivalent.
- 2 – 5 years of experience in a position related to administrative support
- Combination of education and experience
Condition of Employment:
Applicants new to Palliser School Division who are offered employment must provide:
- A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
- Government issued photo identification, may be a valid driver’s license, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided.
- Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within a month of hire.
Benefits:
Salary range for this position is $42,700 - $50,600 dependent upon education and experience.
