As an integral component of the overall effectiveness of Programs, you will assist in the delivery of timely, professional client service to ensure the administration and delivery of programs aimed at helping the agricultural industry in Nova Scotia grow and contribute to the economy. Our Program Officers are responsible for providing assistance, advice and guidance to clients regarding program application and claiming as well as for the efficient and effective administration of assigned programs.
Within a typical day, you can expect to:
- Prepare and interpret minutes, correspondence, client files and other program support documents related to the administration of programs and recommend the dispersal of funds according to program guidelines.
- Monitor internal systems and data to ensure all program and financial data is up to date to support the effective reporting of program funding to provide timely, accurate and efficient data for analysis to the Manager and Director to ensure they are appropriately advised of the program investments.
- Work with internal and external clients to prepare stakeholder communications, and provide advice on internal committees, external meetings and tradeshows.
This position requires you to have a bachelor’s degree in a related field with 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Related experience is defined as: experience providing information, interpreting and applying polices, program guidelines, funding agreements and/or programs to citizens, employers or communities.
In addition to the above, you will work well in an independent environment as well as participate in team-based approaches with internal and external stakeholders. You will be a multi-tasker who is able to identify competing priorities and prioritize responsibilities accordingly as well as have a strong attention to detail and sound judgement in ambiguous situations. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for this work as is problem-solving and the ability to make difficult decisions within short time frames. Lastly, the ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) will be key within this role.

This is a Term/Temporary/Casual employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of August 1, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 06 - PR 10
Salary Range: $1,915.37 - $2,746.69 Bi-Weekly
