Job Description Position InformationPosition Number P00185Position Title Market Attendant (On-Call)Division/Portfolio Ancillary and Business ServicesDepartment/Program Food ServicesLocation KelownaOther Flexible Work OptionsYour OpportunityUnder the direct supervision of the Business and Food Services Lead, the Market Attendant provides exceptional customer service with respect to cashier and general food retail service duties in The Market at Okanagan College.Functions and Duties1. Provides cashier duties for the Market; processes cash, Interact and credit card payments; ensures there is an adequate float, including main float within the office; counts, records and balances cash; prepares daily statement of business reports (DSB) as required.2. Performs general retail and food service duties, including ensuring the retail space is neat and stocked with essential supplies, and assisting customers with general inquiries.3. Prepares and sets out items such as tea, coffee and all condiments; ensures condiments, drinks and prepackaged foods are requisitioned and stocked.4. Supports operations by providing accurate information to the Business and Food Services Lead, who is responsible for ordering and inventory controls.5. Maintains the Market in a safe and sanitary condition.6. Assists with (Infusions) restaurant and banquet set up when required.7. Performs other related duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceCompletion of Grade 12 is required. Food Safe Certificate and Serving It Right Certificate are both required. A minimum of 3 months previous experience in the food industry as a cashier or related experience is required.
