Job Summary
The Sport & Fieldhouse Attendant serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge by supervising participants in the fieldhouse of the Cor Van Raay YMCA. The main goals of this position are:
1. Building and maintaining community relations with participants
2. Ensuring the safety & code of conduct is followed by all participants
3. Maintaining consistent and adequate gymnasium set up
Nature & Scope
The Sport & Fieldhouse Attendant will support daily operations, the responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to:
- Providing an enjoyable experience to users while building positive relationships with members, patrons, volunteers, and other YMCA staff
- Monitoring facility activities while ensuring patrons are following YMCA of Lethbridge policy and procedures
- Coaching sport leagues and lessons
- Supporting the set-up and take down of facility spaces and equipment
- Completing daily reports of scheduled tasks and duties
- Utilizing excellent communication and interactive skills to foster lasting relationships with community members
- Monitoring the general safety, maintenance, and utility of the amenities and associated areas, and reporting concerns to the Sport & Fieldhouse Manager
- Ensuring YMCA policies and procedures are always being met and maintained
- Demonstrating ‘SAM Standards’ daily throughout the facility
- Attending all required YMCA training, recertifications and in-service trainings
Physical/Special Demands
- This position involves prolonged standing
- This position includes the ability to lift 20 kg
- This position involves the continued active supervision of gymnasium
Qualifications and Experience
- Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting organized sports (considered an asset)
- NCCP sport specific coaching certificate (considered an asset)
- Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Evidence of an acceptable Child Intervention Check
- Three professional references required
