Job Summary
Under the direction of the Selkirk Manager, the Selkirk Bartender is responsible for bartending and beverage service duties at the Selkirk Grille. Provides exemplary service to guests to ensure that each guest is provided with a memorable experience and motivated to return.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Takes inventory of and reconciles bar stock;
- Informs the Selkirk Manager and restaurant host of supplies necessary for restocking;
- Keeps the bar and service area clear and clean;
- Checks glassware for cleanliness before use;
- Leaves the area in a clean condition, and removes all dirty glassware to the kitchen;
- Provides outstanding customer service by being attentive and sensitive to guests’ needs;
- Administers the beverage bar according to A.G.L.C. laws relative to Heritage Park's operating policies and procedures;
- Responsible for refusing to service intoxicated persons;
- Responsible for contacting Security in the event of a person becomes belligerent;
- Responsible for discrepancies on opening and closing inventory;
- Works with other front of house staff to ensure efficient service;
- Tabulates and presents customers with accurate bills in a timely manner and makes appropriate change if required;
- Opens and closes the assigned station, and processes all orders and sales through the POS system in accordance with standardized Heritage Park procedures;
- Collects, safeguards, and returns the sales“float” for the assigned station;
- Counts and reports daily sales, accounts for all sales, and prepares funds for deposit with the administrative cashier;
- Acquires and maintains a sound knowledge of Heritage Park, its services and any special events taking place and delivers interpretive historical information and programming relevant to the Selkirk Grille;
- As required, assists with the set-up and delivery of bar service for private functions within Gasoline Alley and the Founder’s Lounge;
- Performs other functions as directed.
Education and Experience
- Completion of High School;
- Previous bartending experience, or equivalent;
- Must be 18+ years of age in order to serve alcoholic beverages and possess Alberta ProServe certification;
- Technical training in a recognized bartending course considered an asset;
- Previous experience in a fine dining establishment preferred;
Skills
- Good organizational skills, efficiency, strong customer service values, and respect for the need to adhere to exceptional food service standards are essential;
- A high level of tact and sensitivity when dealing with customers as well as good verbal communication skills also required. The successful incumbent must be accurate and accountable.
Special Clothing and Equipment
This position requires a uniform which will be supplied by Heritage Park. Appropriate footwear as designated by the Costume Room of Heritage Park will be provided by the employee.
Special Working Condition
The position entails a lot of walking and exposure to all types of weather should be expected.
Hours of Work
- 3-20 hours per week;
- Evening and weekend work is required
