WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS:
Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Specialist, the Payroll & Benefits Analyst will ensure that all payments are calculated and processed accurately, on time and according to the legal compliance requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Prepare, verify, process, balance, and audit semi-monthly payrolls for salaried & casual employees, Flight Crew & Cabin Crew, in accordance with crew agreements, provincial and federal legislation (for federally regulated employees), policies and procedures
- Process monthly payroll adjustments and reconcile earnings and deductions
- Calculate and process taxable benefits
- Reconcile Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI) contributions
- Review payroll data and investigate and correct data integrity issues
- Maintain adequate back up for payroll inputs and adjustments
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements
- Work with Finance to resolve finance and payroll issues (i.e., GL account changes)
- Process expense reports for crew, processed daily through Avanti
- Reconcile monthly benefit premiums and billings
- Ensure benefits premiums are deducted accurately from employees pay and correct any discrepancies
- Validate and correct errors in benefit interface files
- Enroll new employees in the benefits program
- Coordinate with the benefits providers for any issues or concerns
- Benefits Administration that includes;
- Ensuring beneficiaries are updated and complete
- Ensuring employees are enrolled
- Troubleshooting login concerns
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- 3+ years relevant experience in processing payroll and administering benefits
- BSc in Human Resources Management, Accounting or relevant field
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Certificate OR Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) Certificate OR working towards either is an asset
- Deep knowledge of provincial and federal payroll and tax regulations
- Proficient using Microsoft Office applications and payroll systems
- Technical proficiency with an HRIS system (Avanti is an asset)
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage priorities independently
- Experience in working with sensitive data and using best practices for its protection
- Critical thinker able to evaluate and interpret data to implement creative solutions
- Problem solver who regularly seeks opportunities for improvement and implements positive changes
- Capable of working in ambiguity and identifying optimal approach for finding a resolution
- Great interpersonal relations skills to answer all payment-related questions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to present information clearly
- Experience working in a daily/hourly pay environment is an asset
- Aviation experience is an asset
