The role
Reporting to the Director, Talent Programs, the Talent Development Consultant will be a key member of the Canadian Talent Programs team. You will work with employees and leaders from across the business to help accelerate the development of the Sun Life’s best and brightest talent. Using your creativity, organizational and relationship skills, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the programs, continuous improvement activities and larger program evolutions to help SL Canada deliver a differentiated talent experience. The successful candidate will be a team player who is able to manage multiple priorities and execute with excellence.
What will you do?
This role supports the delivery of multiple accelerated development and leadership development programs. This work includes:
Support all processes related to participant identification and management
Program stakeholder communications, including communications to our participants, managers, senior leaders and HR Business Partners.
Supporting program participants with any questions related to program elements or processes.
Managing program inboxes, calendars and SharePoint sites.
Ownership of annual process calendar for all programs.
Logistics planning and execution support for learning and development events, including sharing ideas for topics or speakers, creating agendas, booking event spaces and managing catering.
Vendor management, ordering and invoice management for any external vendors or speakers.
Quarterly review of programs data, updating and improving dashboards, reporting on program metrics
Oversight of program budget, tracking and reporting on program spend through Tableau, partnering with Finance to understand and correct any inconsistencies related to program cost centers.
Using a continuous improvement mindset, make recommendations for improving day-to-day program operations based on metrics, budget and participant feedback.
Actively participate in the strategic planning and program evolution by contributing ideas and insights. Support the Director and Program Manager in delivering on the project work related to these evolutions.
Support ad-hoc project work related to high-potential development, talent development, leadership and learning at Sun Life.
What do you need to succeed?
Post-secondary degree with a focus in Human Resources or Learning and Development or Talent Management
3-5 years experience working in an HR function of a large, matrixed organization
Resourceful, creative and a team player
Able to prioritize multiple deliverables and work with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational skills and careful attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Highly-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals in different situations requiring empathy, diplomacy, judgment and discretion
Proficiency in MS Excel and Outlook, Experience with PowerPoint and the principles of design
What would be nice to have?
Experience planning internal events
Knowledge of Workday and Sun Life HR practices and procedures
Experience working in Tableau and fundamentals of data visualization
Experience tracking expenses and managing budgets
Bilingual

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
