Job Description
The Health Care Aide shall provide personal care and other services to residents in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Home.
Requirements:
- Must have a Canadian work permit.
- Must be able to commute (1333 Rideau Ferry Road, Perth, Ontario, K7H 3C7).
Available shifts (full-time):- 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (8-hour shift), weekend availability
- 52.5 hours bi-weekly
Key Responsibilities:- Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner.
- Complete scheduled care services required from the resident and document the completion of the assistance and care provided.
- Assists with laundry as directed by General Manager.
- Cleans kitchen and dining room and sets tables in the dining room.
- Administers medication to residents and maintains an active medication administration certificate (training to be provided by the retirement home).
- Participates as a member of the care team and provides support to the other members of the Services team; assists with feeding, toileting, and ambulating residents.
- Provide bedtime routine care, complete night checks on residents and answer call bells.
- Observes and adhere to all policies and procedures, work standards, and safety regulations.
- Assists and attends to the care needs of the residents as required.
- Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
- Aware of employees' and supervisors’ responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents.
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by the task, MSDS, or home policy.
- Other related duties as assigned, such as keeping resident rooms clean and tidy, folding their clothes, and taking their temperature and weight.
