Duties and responsibilities:

Under the direction of the SARCAN Depot Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, the Cashier provides customer service, counts containers, and pays-out refunds.

Duties include:

• Provide customers with helpful and efficient service by counting containers, paying out refunds, and responding to inquiries when necessary.
• Prepare containers for shipment, load trailers, operate mechanized SARCAN equipment, and prepares the loading documentation.
• Complete all of the functions necessary to open and/or close the SARCAN depot.
• Will be involved in the direction and supervision of staff to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
• Complete all daily and monthly cash and container accounting when necessary.
• Dealing with non-routine customer inquiries and complaints.
• May be responsible for completing bank deposits, completing daily cash reconciliation, issuing cheques.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Grade 12

Experience:

• Cash Register
• Customer Service

Skills:

• Ability to operate mechanical equipment
• Ability to work with people with disabilities
• Ability to work well with the public and provide excellent customer service
• Good math, writing, and reading skills; including accuracy in dealing with money
• Physical stamina (position requires standing for long periods of time)
• Basic computer skills are necessary
• Effective communication and leadership skills
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence
