Job Description
The Saskatoon Airport Authority (SAA) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and tech-savvy individual for a contract position to assist our team as the Volunteer Liaison. As an independent contractor, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting our volunteer program by providing coordination and support to our dedicated team of volunteers. You will help ensure a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved. Your contributions will directly contribute to the success of our volunteer program and align with our vision to be Canada’s most valued airport.
This position offers a 1-year term with the possibility of an extension, providing an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The volunteer program operates on a dynamic schedule, as the Volunteer Liaison you should be prepared to adjust your availability accordingly. The specific hours and schedule will be at the contractor’s discretion, allowing for flexibility and convenience. On average, the estimated workload for this position is approximately 10 hours per week, with the schedule varying between working remotely and being onsite as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Coordination and reporting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for our volunteers, addressing their inquiries, concerns and providing ongoing support.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment efforts and coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to ensure adequate coverage.
- Serve as administrator for the Volunteer Management System (VMS), ensuring accurate and up-to-date volunteer data.
2. Training and Orientation:
- Coordinate and conduct volunteer orientation and on-boarding activities.
- Provide training materials and resources to enhance volunteers’ skills and knowledge.
- Provide technical support and guidance to volunteers using the Volunteer Management System (VMS), including troubleshooting, and assisting with instructions.
3. Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers through various channels, including emails, telephone, in person coffee chats, site visits, events and meetings.
- Act as a liaison between volunteers and SAA, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
4. Volunteer Recognition and Retention:
- Implement program strategies to recognize and appreciate volunteers for their contributions within budget.
- Evaluate volunteer satisfaction and engagement levels, implementing initiatives to improve retention.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages teamwork and camaraderie among volunteers.
5. Other tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in the English language both spoken and written, with the ability to communicate in French considered an asset.
- Previous leadership and volunteer experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders of diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience in volunteer software is desirable.
- Understanding of volunteer management best practices and principles.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Customer Experience and de-escalation training.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Security Clearance.
- Valid Drivers License
