St. Joseph's Health Care London is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a registered Pharmacy Intern to practice to in a progressive and supportive environment at Parkwood Institute Main. As a valued member of the interdisciplinary team, you will interact with physicians and allied health professionals to optimize drug therapy for inpatients on the Spinal Cord Injury and Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program. You will be responsible for identifying and resolving drug related problems. Additionally, this position allows for a unique opportunity to assist providers with medication reconciliation at admission and discharge. You will work with patients and their families to provide care, to assist and support them, meet their evident and anticipated needs, and enhance their quality of life. You will be a drug information resource and provide input on drug formulary and drug utilization issues. You will be responsible for order verification for your program. Additionally, you will have some responsibility for the main dispensary, coverage of other programs, and on-call duties. Our department offers many professional development opportunities, such as student education, research, and pharmacist continuing education.
You must have completed the requirements for graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree prior to September 5th, 2023. You must be registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Intern and have met the requirements for writing the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada exams. You will work under the supervision and guidance of a pharmacist and are expected to demonstrate the NAPRA Professional Competencies for Canadian Pharmacists at Entry to Practice.
Essential Qualifications
- Completion of requirements for Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree prior to September 5th, 2023.
- Registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Cerner)
- Demonstrated ability to provide patient care in both in-person and virtual environments, as well as in both individual and group settings
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative and function as part of a team
- Demonstrated patient-focused approach to care
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to offer and receive constructive feedback with team members
- Preferred Qualification
- Prior experience caring for patients in diverse pharmacy settings and where complex patients are frequently encountered; hospital experience would be an asset
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset
Teaching and Research- St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. Immunization Requirements- Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace.
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
