As part of the IT team, the Cloud Engineer takes the lead on developing, executing, and overseeing the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s cloud strategy and migration process. A collaborative team player, this position also provides technical support to end users and fellow technicians by assisting with resolution for the cloud infrastructure’s problems; assists with IT infrastructure projects, including the setup, installation, and configuration of hardware and software for new locations as well as managing moves, adds and changes to existing locations; performs regular evaluations to ensure optimal system efficiency; and makes recommendations for improvements to ensure overall program success.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as the cloud subject matter specialist for developing, executing, and overseeing a robust and scalable cloud strategy and manages the adoption process.
- Regularly evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software; develop and organize cloud systems.
- Work closely with IT Security team to monitor the association’s cloud privacy.
- Facilitate “helpdesk” support for all cloud infrastructure-related queries and problems.
- Assist technicians on the Service Delivery and Infrastructure teams to ensure expectations are being met.
- Create and maintain clear documentation and standards for cloud operations in the organization.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technology trends and promotes an environment of learning.
- Responsible for monitoring the production environment and also advancing the obtainable monitoring setup as needed.
- Sustain performance and availability of production systems in the Azure public cloud infrastructure to achieve optimal uptime.
- Bring a positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
- Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
- Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the organization.
- Troubleshoot problems with network, user, hardware and/or software and select and implement appropriate action.
- Provide instruction to staff when new acquisitions, upgrades or changes are made.
- Assist in the implementation of new infrastructure projects by providing technical expertise and support to IT team members.
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all children, youth and vulnerable people in YMCA programs. Commits to the professional responsibility of maintaining knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures, child and youth development and best practices to best serve and protect children, youth, and vulnerable people.

What you need to succeed:

You bring:
- Highly organized with strong follow-up skills
- A computer science or related degree preferred
- 3-5+ years of experience designing, executing, and supporting IT cloud solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
- Minimum technical certification MCP; Azure Solution Architect Certification AZ-300 (or equivalent)
- ITIL v4 Foundations certification is preferred
- Requires knowledge and understanding of the following technologies:
- Server Applications including MS SQL Server 2012-2017, Microsoft Office 365 Cloud based Applications, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VMWare ESXi
- Windows Operating Systems: Windows Server 2012 and 2016, Windows 10, Windows 7
- Server Administration/Technologies including: Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP
- Network Technologies/Protocols/Security including Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPSEC, 802.11g/n, wireless, and cabling
- Avepoint Cloud Backup, Ivanti Security Suite, Cortex XDR
- Incident Management software – Jira ServiceDesk, Confluence, Insight
- Active Network’s Class Membership & Program system is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent reporting and data analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability as technical/computer trainer
- Understanding of YMCA business practices and procedures an asset
- On-call availability to support business systems, database, web and internet services, on a scheduled rotation
- Flexibility regarding work hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to work in an efficient manner independently and as part of a team
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Commitment to respecting diversity and demonstrating inclusive behaviour, responding with sensitivity and self-awareness to the unique needs of colleagues and members, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
- Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity including the ability to identify and address barriers in IT Program, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design
