Your opportunity:
As a member of the Student Services & External Relations team the Alumni Relations and Communications Officer is responsible for developing and implementing alumni engagement activities that support strategic objectives of the Department. Promoting alumni engagement opportunities to academic units, graduating students, industry partners and alumni. Coordinating the recruitment process of alumni volunteers. Developing components of programs and initiatives that advance strategic objectives. Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives. Liaising with contacts to facilitate and initiate outreach opportunities. Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives. Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance. Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities.
Developing and implementing communication and marketing plans that support strategic objectives. Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials. Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing alumni engagement activities that support strategic objectives- Coordinating networking activities between students and employers and/or alumni
- Fostering positive relationships with alumni
- Liaising with various stakeholders to foster collaboration
- Meeting face-to-face with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and opportunities
- Developing and implementing communication plans that support strategic objectives
- Developing and implementing marketing plans to promote programs, events and/or initiatives that support strategic objectives
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience- Minimum three years related experience in alumni and volunteer relations with a proven track record in developing and leading multi-faceted alumni programs and supporting fundraising campaigns and initiatives, preferably in a University or similar institution
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing marketing and communications initiatives that support strategic objectives
- Proven experience in donor relations and stewardship
- Proven success in promoting alumni engagement and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners and volunteers
- Demonstrated success in managing high level relationships and delivering high value to organizations and clients
- Professional editorial and writing experience
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and a collaborative problem-solving approach
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment
- Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of a broad range of internal and external audiences effectively
- Understands the emerging trends of volunteer attitudes, perspectives and behaviours, including demographic cohort trends
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community
- Proven ability to bring individuals and groups together (staff, peers, alumni, volunteers) to motivate and guide them effectively
- Superior time management skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Excellent writing, proof reading and editing skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to travel to events and work evenings and weekends as needed
Assets (Nonessential):
Experience working with donor database CRMs, Arbor preferred.- Familiarity with donorand alumni within the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering preferred

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 12 - $71,842 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $91,875. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
