Department Overview
TD Auto Finance (TDAF) is a dynamic division within TD that provides a robust array of automotive financing options to meet our customers’ needs as well as the needs of our dealer partners. In Canada, we also finance recreational and leisure vehicles and serve the Prime and Non-Prime Auto market.
In the goal to become Canada’s #1 auto lender, we are over 900 people strong, including an external sales team located coast to coast, as well as teams in credit adjudication, funding, inside sales, loan administration, customer service, collections and recovery, and our federated functions of risk management, technology solutions, finance and human resources. Our Canadian offices are located in Toronto, ON, Brossard, QC, and Nanaimo, BC.
The Communications, Customer and Employee Experience team works with executives and business partners across TDAF to support strategic business and employee initiatives. Functioning as an internal consulting team, we focus on projects and initiatives with both short-term tactical requirements and long-term strategic implications.
Job Details
This role is an exciting opportunity for a passionate communicator who is looking to take the next step in their career and to develop their leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will develop communication plans for both our dealers and employees, with a focus on creating strategies and delivering campaigns that support TD Auto Finance’s business goals and objectives. In addition, they will have some oversight and mentorship of a junior level team member.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Customer Experience, the Senior Business Communications Specialist will work closely with business partners to develop content that inspires and informs a diverse range of audiences, building brand awareness and driving engagement. They will help ensure a consistent voice and positioning across internal and external communications.
This individual must be a proactive, strategic thinker who thrives in an environment that encourages innovation and creativity. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, involving leadership at strategic junctures, and will be comfortable taking leadership roles on projects and within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop communication strategies for large projects, and create corresponding key messages, communications and collateral (coaching and training materials, web content, speaking points, etc.)
- Write, edit and publish a variety of internal and external communications related to programs, products, rates and specials
- Provide communications guidance and ongoing support to the senior leadership team, including creating messaging and speaking notes in the appropriate voice and tone, and proactive communication planning to drive forward larger strategies
- Provide ongoing oversight for some team priorities and deliverables
- Oversee the ongoing innovation of our internal and external digital presence, including brand alignment and visual and multimedia enhancements
- Build effective partnerships and establish the role as a key partner through strong communication, negotiation, influencing and organizational skills
- Make recommendations on use of communication tools and vehicles to deliver meaningful and relevant content, based on audience needs
- Work collaboratively on cross-functional teams to deliver on program and project outcomes effectively and on time
- Work closely with business partners to ensure short-, medium-, and long-term communication project needs are met
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communications strategies, and propose creative methods for improvement
- Secure all necessary approvals working closely with multiple business partners (e.g. CAPA, HR, Legal, Translation, Privacy, Compliance, Marketing)
- Other duties as required
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business communications and writing
- Post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to write quickly, cleanly and creatively
- Exceptional time management and task prioritization skills, with an ability to deliver on several different projects at the same time
- Superior ability to connect disparate projects with bigger strategic priorities
- Design and editing skills, including experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to balance changing requirements and priorities
- Experience with traditional and new media technologies and strategies
- Experience with managing internal web content
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
- Passionate, proactive and energetic, with a strong sense of team
- Demonstrated track record of leadership capabilities
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM software considered an asset
- Bilingual (French/English) considered an asset
