FUNCTION
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position supports the ongoing development and implementation of the Burnaby Hospice Society’s strategic fund development plan. This role will intentionally build vital relationships within the broader Burnaby community with the end goal of engaging donors and securing funding for programs, services and organizational capacity. The exceptional stewardship of donors and reporting on philanthropic support is a key expectation.
Specifically, the Coordinator will ensure the coordination and execution of all fund development initiatives including individual/major donor fundraising, corporate giving, government & foundation grants, event sponsorship and strategically supporting the growth of the BHS’s social enterprise. In addition, the introduction and facilitation of the ‘Friends of Burnaby Hospice’ program will be a strategic way to engage and build relationships ultimately leading to a growth in donors.
The coordination of the maintenance of the BHS website, organization of social media posts and providing oversight for BHS’s communications and marketing materials will be a key function of this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with the BHS team, lead & manage the execution of the fund development strategy.
- Coordinate timelines for various fundraising activities to ensurealignment with work plans.
- Manage BHS’s fundraising events such as the annual Hike for Hospice.
- Manage all beneficial fund development relationships and cultivate potential relationships with prospective donors.
- Regularly update and monitor a yearly funding schedule. Regularly report on progress to the ED.
- Prepare and submit funding applications.
- Maintain a fund development database or CRM.
- Ensure all funding and donor reporting is completed on time.
- Work closely with finance to process all charitable tax receipts and appropriate acknowledgement.
- Coordinate communications and marketing activities of BHS to ensure alignment to fund development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience supporting aspects of a fund development program is required.
- Post-secondary in a related field is required. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office; including MS Word, Excel and Outlook at the intermediate toadvanced level is essential.
- Ability to mentor others in understanding the role of fund development.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work independently, think strategically, uses consensus building to gain buy-in, work with multiple levels of an organization.
- Excellent organizational skills - output oriented and able to accomplish results within firm timelines.
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
- Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines, on occasion work under somewhat stressful situations.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle when needed for travel.
HOURS OF WORK
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am- 4:30pmor as mutually agreed upon times.
Flexibility of hours is available and at times may be necessary (occasional evenings, weekends).
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $29.00-$33.00 per hour
