Job Description
The John Howard Society is seeking a person to work with individuals with complex needs. The Employment Outreach worker will provide individual support to unemployed individuals who have been involved with the criminal justice system, to assist them in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining employment. Our vision is to empower offenders to self- sufficiency through meaningful employment and to enhance their economic and social circumstance. The Employment Outreach will be responsible for delivering many key components of employment services. These would include, but not limited to, intake and assessment, develop a mutually agreed upon Return to Work Action Plan and case management. This position provides services in both the community and the Provincial Correctional Centre.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer general employment services to clients; i.e. resume, interview techniques, access to job bank
- Engage with and build strong helping relationship with clients
- Gather information on employment history and other relevant information
- Determine interest, aptitudes and abilities of clients
- Identify barriers to employment
- Assess need for assistance such as housing, rehabilitation, financial aid
- Link to appropriate community resources as required
- Develop a mutually agreed upon Return to Work Action Plan
- Support clients throughout the job search process
- Encourage and model positive decision making and positive healthy lifestyle choices
- Maintain positive working relationships with support network, government and community resources
- Initiate and participate in case conference as necessary to ensure client needs are met
- Provide clients with labor market information
- Adhere to professional guidelines with respect to client confidentiality
- Maintain electronic records within the case management module of One Client Service Model(OCSM)
- Perform other duties relevant to the program as assigned by the Executive Director

Education/Work Experience:
- Post-secondary in the social sciences or diploma in related field
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and/or career counselling background would be an asset
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary: $24.00 per hour
