WorkSafeNB is seeking a permanent Payroll Officer. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you are responsible for the management of WorkSafeNB’s full cycle payroll and the administration of employer benefits, ensuring all employees are paid accurately, on time and in compliance with company policies, collective agreements and in accordance with government regulations and requirements.Your key areas of responsibility include:• Management of bi-weekly payroll processing - Manage and control the organizations bi-weekly payroll for over 500 employees including hourly and salary employees in both a unionized and non-bargaining environment using a Payroll Software and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the processing.• Management of payroll reports - A core function of payroll is the reporting of compensation, the collection and remittance of personal income tax, Canada Pension Contributions, Employment Insurance Premiums, New Brunswick Shared Risk pension plan and all other third-party remittances.• Month End Reconciliations, Reporting and Remittance - The Payroll Officer is responsible for the preparation, validation, and reconciliation of all payroll accounts for monthly financial reporting, adhering to appropriate accounting practices and policies. Also, responsible for the distribution of monthly reports and remittances to the appropriate bodies such as Canada Revenue Agency, Statistics Canada, Health and Dental Service Provider, Vestcor Corp, and other third-party agencies such as United Way, etc.• Group Administrator Health and Dental Service Provider - Responsible for the administration of WorkSafeNB Health and Dental benefit plan. Including coordinating and maintaining employee records, benefits processing, enrollments, terminations, changes to life events, salary updates and transfers. Responsible for Advising and inform employees of the details of the company’s Health and Dental plans.• Year End/T4 Production - Complete all year end responsibilities related to payroll and complete T4s for all employees.You embrace the following competencies:• Adaptability• Client-focused Service• Teamwork and Collaboration• Ensuring Accountability• Analytical Thinking• Attention to Detail• Planning and Organizing• Problem Solving• Accounting and Reporting• Payroll Processing
You, as a successful candidate, possess:• A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other applicable discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of progressive full cycle payroll experience, including year-end or have a two-year post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or other applicable discipline with five (5) years of progressive full cycle payroll experience, including year-end.• Must have a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation from the National Canadian Payroll Association.• Comprehensive knowledge of current federal and provincial government legislation, and related acts of payroll regulations.
