What you’ll do
- Provide financial advice/support and recommendations to internal clients on the interpretation and application of a variety of financial policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Develop, revise, and implement a variety of financial procedures
- Prepare different financial reports
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of accounts payable services
- Perform a variety of financial reconciliations.
Essential qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, commerce, economics, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and job knowledge.
Language requirements:
Bilingual imperative with proficiency at BBB level. If you are unsure of your proficiency level, we encourage you to self-assess here .
Experience:
- Providing financial advice or guidance to clients on the interpretation and application of variety of financial policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Using an integrated financial management system (e.g., SAP)
- Reviewing financial information and verifying accuracy and completeness
- In accounting operations (It may include, but are not limited to: processing accounts payable, processing travel claims, preparing financial reports, creating funds commitments, budget tracking, pre-payment verification)
Knowledge of:
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA)
- Computerized accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.
- Advanced features within Microsoft Excel such as pivot tables and Vlookup
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing to liaise with staff, Client, and other government departments.
- Provide advice and make recommendations to clients and/or management.
- Plan and organize work, to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
- Analyze issues and make recommendations.

Asset Qualification
- Experience in Finance
- Experience with SFT – Salary Forecasting Tool within SAP
- Experience in the analysis and compilation of financial information
- A recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CPA or CGA) or progress towards and eligibility for the Chartered Professional Accountant designation
