Job Description:
As a Marketing Consultant, Strategy & Elite Marketing Services, you are the main contact for Sun Life Financial Distribution (SLFD) top advisors’ and you develop personalized marketing strategies and customized materials to help meet their business goals. You will work daily with advisors across Canada, to understand their value proposition, target audience and business objectives and help them excel in their marketing and sales efforts.
The Marketing Consultant reports to the Director, Strategy & Elite Marketing Services, Advisor Sales Support within Sun Life Financial Distribution (SLFD). The Advisor Sales Support team delivers customized, bespoke marketing initiatives at the regional, team and individual advisor levels. The team is accountable to define and deliver marketing programs that effectively position Sun Life advisors’ distinctive value propositions for target clients and drive leads, sales and Client engagement.
What will you do?
Advisor consultation: work 1:1 with advisors to analyze or build their individual marketing plans and fulfill recommended tactics
Build relationships with advisors and business partners, prioritize and scale customized initiatives. Gather feedback to refine and improve.
Provide recommendations that support the individual needs of top advisors
Deliver presentations to various audiences as they relate to the Elite Accelerator program (i.e. field leader meetings, Elite Accelerator program events, regional events)
Continuously identify opportunities to create additional value, generate new ideas and creative solutions that help advisors grow and manage their practice.
Reporting and analysis: provide metrics and analysis on marketing plan performance, Client engagement and lead generation
Evolve marketing capabilities for advisors
Develop better processes across teams to build a better experience to advisors
Develop proactively more impactful marketing capabilities to help advisors grow their business
What do you need to succeed?
Understand marketing and sales strategy, processes, principles and theories, and apply this knowledge to the execution of marketing projects, campaigns and programs
Excellent interpersonal skills: must be able to consult, influence and negotiate with people from diverse backgrounds and levels throughout the organization
Excellent communication skills with an ability to build relationships with advisors, team members and business partners
General business literacy and an understanding of financial services
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
Exhibit strong leadership skills by driving for action, managing complexity and generating innovative solutions
Ability to embrace change and adapt to constantly evolving business priorities
Post-secondary education, and 3-5 years of experience in the fields of marketing, social media, business, or communications
Ability to work independently and to exercise sound judgment
Assets
Salesforce marketing knowledge is an asset
Previous financial services experience
Previous experience in an account management role
Bilingual is an asset (French/English)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
