The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will play a key role in closely monitoring the company’s financial health. The role is primarily responsible for financial management, reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, taxation and compliance, and cash flow management.

Essential Functions
Financial Management
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for multiple entities.
- Develop and maintain financial budgets.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and report on key financial metrics and indicators.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as required.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage annual budgets.
- Monitor and report on budget variances, identifying areas of concern and suggesting corrective actions.
Taxation and Compliance
- Prepare monthly and quarterly HST filings.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual reviews, audits and tax filings.
- Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, industry regulations, and best practices.
Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow, including monitoring cash inflows and outflows.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and projections.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting team.
- Provide guidance and support in resolving financial issues.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
- 5+ years experiences in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in the real estate development and/or property management industry.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with the ability to work independently on multiple projects.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial software. Experience with Yardi is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $95,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
