What part will you play?
The Controller will lead the Canadian Accounting / Finance and Administration team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records; perform analysis to support the business, provide reports and information for local Management, the Holding Company, and external audit requirements; assist with special projects as required. We are looking for a professional with strong team leadership and accounting skills.
What will you be doing?
- Oversee accounting functions, including but not limited to monthly close process, financial reporting, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, inventory, internal controls, cash flow management, accounts payables, and accounts receivables
- Perform/review monthly percentage of completion revenue calculations for projects in accordance with policy and ensure revenue is recorded appropriately
- Responsible for ensuring financial transactions are appropriately accounted for in accordance with local accounting guidelines
- Responsible for the local month-end close processes in accordance with the International Accounting Team (“IAT”) closing schedule
- Performing variance analysis on financial results to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes impacting completeness and accuracy of the financial statements
Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts according to prescribed frequency to ensure balances are properly supported and explained by independently collaborating with key stakeholders to resolve any reconciliation issues in a timely manner
- Ensure intercompany balances are accurate, confirmed and reconciled with holding company and other intercompany relationships
- Work closely with our Corporate Finance team on budget and forecast preparations and analysis
- Assist with internal management financial statement preparation and reporting
- Manage local tax filings and responsible for supporting tax service providers with respect to required information
- Coordinate with the IAT to provide information to record intercompany transactions, transfer price adjustments, etc.
- Coordinate and work closely with external auditors on statutory and consolidated audits and provide timely response and adjustments to audit requests on an on-going basis.
- Have oversight and responsibility of Purchasing, Order Entry and Warehouse/Logistics functions
- Where applicable, manage and coach employees to increase engagement and strengthen professional development. Continually strives to develop talent within the accounting organization to promote individual development and career growth.
- Create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations
- Perform other responsibilities as directed by management
What do we require from you?
- Proven experience as controller or other similar position
- Proficient in local accounting guidelines and regulations
- Superior analytical and modeling skills including advanced proficiency in Excel and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze large data sets and build reports.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- Strong experience with ERPs, Microsoft D-365 preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- A high level of independence, accountability, teamwork, good judgement, and attention to detail in a fast paced & rapidly changing environment.
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting required
- CPA strongly preferred
