About the Position:
We are in growth mode and need to hire curious, productive, technically proficient, smart, initiative[1]taking team players to join our team. This role reporting to CFO, will be responsible for the day/day finance activities.
This is a hybrid role that will require accounting technical aptitude, communications skills, project management and process improvements skills. The ideal candidate
will be someone that gets excited about working in a fast-paced start-up environment with a strong team based, supportive culture.

Principal Responsibilities:
As a Financial Controller, your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
- Support the CFO by overseeing the preparation of operational and financial analyses, annual budget, forecasts, key metrics reporting, and dashboard reports.
- Preparing financial reports and analyze financial data.
- Monitoring internal controls by overseeing and managing financial transactions.
- Actively participate in budgeting processes.
- Lead & manage year-end internal and/or external audits and be the main point of contact.
- Lead annual budget process, strategic planning, forecasting, to ensure accuracy of financials and integration of data.
- Take a hands-on role in leading the financial reporting process including preparing consolidated financial statements, monthly management reports and analysis to guide decision making.
- Streamlining accounting functions and operations to develop plans for financial growth.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Assists the Organizations Auditors with the completion of the yearly audit including requests, document preparation, sampling etc.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts for the fiscal year.
- Support outsourced Bookkeeper as required to complete Month/Year End procedures.
- Comply with Corporate reporting requirements on weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis ensuring compliance with L Squared accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments in matters of treasury, risk management, taxation, budgeting, and capital planning for Canadian operations • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Support CEO/COO/CFO as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 7+ years working in a finance department, ideally in a face paced environment (FP&A or similar roles (strategic finance, corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate development).
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, Plooto, Hubspot, and other tools.
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping procedures
- Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
- Reporting customer information for end of month performance and billing purposes
- Experience in SaaS or a high-growth tech company is preferred.
