Job Description
We are seeking a Controller to become an integral part of our team! You will oversee financial activities and personnel as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, and tax data. The candidate will also be the point of contact for banks, auditors, and tax authorities.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day company accounts
- Assist with financial planning
- Oversee Budget forecasting and cash flow management
- Ensure government compliance in all tasks
- Oversee and coordinate all financial activities and personnel
- Set controls and budgets to mitigate risk
- Preparation of monthly job cost reports and monthly consolidated financial statement packages
- Conduct internal audits to assess financial status
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations
- Accurate and timely filing of GST, PST, corporate tax and source deductions
- Serve as primary contact for external auditors
- Identify and mitigate operational risks
- Ensure appropriate insurance coverage
- Manage weekly cash flow and projections
- Cash management including budgeting and forecasting
- Human resource management - extended benefits, compensation, ADP and hiring package
- IT management - ensure appropriate systems and security
- Lead and support accounting team
- Manage affiliated companies - monthly GST returns, bank reconciliations, monthly and quarterly financial statements, tax prep
