Dennis Group Canada and IFAB Engineering Partners Ltd. are seeking serious applicants to fill the role of Automations & Controls Engineer. Work is performed in collaboration with a full complement of designers and engineers from a variety of disciplines. The role is to be an integral part of the project team with the design of electrical systems for various building facilities in compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
The ideal candidate for this position has experience working with PLCs, designing PLCs. Experience working and designing systems with Allen Bradley/Rockwell, working with field devices, pumps, valves & flow meters. This role is client facing and you will spend significant time in our client's facilities during installation and start-up/commissioning/qualification phases of a project. The position includes, yet is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Design and troubleshoot both software and hardware necessary for control systems utilizing PLCs for integration of manufacturing systems.
- Design, diagnose, and troubleshoot network infrastructures - Ethernet, DeviceNet, AS-i, Profibus etc.
- Design, specify, wire, and procure control panel equipment, e.g. safety circuits, I/O, networks, etc.
- Design, specify, and procure electrical equipment, e.g. MCCs, panelboards, transformers, etc.
- Specify, procure, configure, and troubleshoot controls hardware and field instrumentation
- Develop bid documentation for Electrical, Automation, and Low Voltage (network, security) vendors
- Interface and manage installation contractors during construction
Position Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), or a related field
- 3-6+ Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Honeywell Systems familiarity
- Visual Basic, SQL, MS ACCESS Database programming skills a plus
- Design and implement process network infrastructure (Ethernet, Device Net, Control Net, ProfiBus etc)
- Database programming skills a plus
- Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD Required
- 3-6+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing setting
Travel and working conditions:
- Work will take place in a newly renovated modern office environment; with flexibility to work from individual homes as we strive to create a solid work-life balance through our Connected Workplace program;
- Some travel is necessary to support projects at client sites across Canada & the US; travel is expected to be 40-60% of the time, with some overnight stays expected.
