The OPPORTUNITY
Pomerleau is currently recruiting has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and independent post-secondary student to join the Talent, Culture, and Leadership team as a Talent Intern. The 4-month internship based in our Vancouver Office, starting in September 2023 offers hands-on experience and learning opportunities to gain invaluable experience within one of Canada’s largest construction companies.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented with a strong initiative to take on a wide variety of tasks. The candidate should possess the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal stakeholders, and has proven capabilities in multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritizing workloads.
What YOU Will Do
Learn about the recruitment process from posting job advertisements and screening candidates to presenting employment offers.- Provide an exceptional candidate experience by conducting positive and engaging phone screens and seamlessly coordinating between the candidate and hiring manager throughout the process.
- Create a pipeline of warm candidates by contacting previous applicants.
- Explore innovative methods to attract and source candidates through internal and external job sites, social media platforms and networking.
- Assist in creating content for social media channels improving Pomerleau’s branding within BC.
- Facilitate an inspiring onboarding experience from collecting employee information, to planning an exciting first day at Pomerleau.
- Learn the importance of due diligence through conducting background and reference checks.
- Collaborate with the team and put your own spin on intriguing HR projects across British Columbia.
- Update and maintain confidential BC employee and HR files.
- Drive awareness of Pomerleau as an ‘Employer of Choice’ by attending industry events and career fairs.
What YOU Will Bring
- Any HR related experience an asset.
- Must be currently enrolled in a Human Resources or Business-related diploma or degree program.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Passion for people and developing relationships.
- Proficiency with various computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Self-starter, driven, with a high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
