Customer Care and Patrol - Tourism & Safety Ambassador
CAP Team members are committed to promoting a friendlier and safer downtown community. The Care and Patrol (CAP) Team supports Downtown Kamloops by providing diverse services and supports to downtown businesses, residents, and our many tourists. CAP work with RCMP, the City of Kamloops, and other organizations to ensure the safety of all those using our streets.
Team members will fulfil a variety of roles such as Downtown Kamloops’ event assistant, tourist ambassador, and safety patroller. CAP Team members work the majority of their hours outdoors interacting with the community.
A CAP Team patrols in pairs and covers our Business Improvement Area and members report to the CAP Team Supervisor and to Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association (Downtown Kamloops).
Springboard career development and transferable skills: tourism, hospitality, media, public speaking & relations, first aid, crime prevention, social work, and security.
Cap Team Responsibilities:
TRAINING is provided to assure team members gain the appropriate skills to fulfill the responsibilities outlined below.
- Develop constructive relationships with business operators, residents, visitors, and tourists alike to create safe and positive experiences.
- Support tourism activities such as greet visitors, lead Alley Art Gallery tours, describe historical points of interest, assist with key events and activities, and respond to calls requesting CAP services.
- Market and promote the CAP Team and Downtown Kamloops, including media relations & news articles, marketing, events, place management, and brand management.
- Liaise with downtown businesses, Tourism Kamloops, RCMP, Community Service Officers, social organizations, and City of Kamloops departments.
- Observe, respond and report incidents including unsafe conditions, crime, and graffiti.
- Identify matters involving vulnerable populations and respond in conjunction with various community organizations and resources.
- Support the RCMP and Community Service Officers with various crime prevention strategies and initiatives.
- Complete unique projects, programs and reports as assigned.

physically capable to patrol on foot or bicycle for up to 8 hours a day in all weather conditions
Note: This position is hiring 2 candidates for the North Shore, and 1 candidate for downtown.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From $18.00 per hour

- Kamloops, BC V2C2C9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
