Customer Service Representative (CSR) – Hospitality (Cashier, Dishwasher, Grill Cook, Kitchen Prep, Pickles/Poblano’s/Seven Seas CSR)
Oasis and Out Back Shack restaurants
Temporary Part-Time and Temporary Full-Time (up to 35 hours per week)
Contract: September 2023 - April 2024
Summary
This entry-level opportunity adheres to the Hospitality department’s high standard of food preparation, cleaning and sanitation, teamwork, and customer service. Team members hold a principle responsibility, but also learn about and work at a variety of stations within the Hospitality department (including Oasis and Out Back Shack restaurant) to assist with any staffing needs as necessary.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Cashier - The Cashier will provide customers with a high level of customer service, and will be responsible for processing credit or debit card and cash transactions using an electronic scanner and cash register. Other responsibilities will include compiling and maintaining non-monetary reports and records, stocking of products within the Oasis and area, and ensuring designated area is tidy and clean.
Dishwasher - The Dishwasher is responsible for providing the Hospitality department with clean dishes, glassware, utensils and equipment to fulfill all needs. The Dishwasher ensures proper dish machine set-up, prepping of dishes, and loading and cleaning of machine, proper garbage removal and recycling program.
Grill Cook - The Grill Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner. The Grill Cook must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. The Grill Cook must be prepared to work as a team member in Oasis and Out Back Shack restaurant, follow all safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.
Kitchen Prep - The Kitchen Prep is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner. The Kitchen Prep must be prepared to work in a fast-paced work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. The Kitchen Prep must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace, follow all safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.
Pickles CSR / Poblano's CSR / Seven Seas CSR - The CSR will be responsible for providing consistently high-levels of customer service to all patrons within various stations at the Oasis (includes Pickles, Poblano's, and Seven Seas) by providing prompt service, taking accurate orders, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials. The CSR carries out duties in a friendly and professional manner at all times, and ensuring quality customer service in preparing various food orders orders. Other responsibilities include cashier duties, assisting with cleaning duties, and complying with all restaurant policies and procedures.
Weekend or holiday work is possible. Contract may be extended pending approval.
Job Duties
- Take orders from customers and effectively communicate order to team to execute
- Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items
- Following recipes accurately and maintaining food preparation processes such as cooking, seasoning, grilling meats, dicing, cutting, and slicing vegetables
- Clean assigned areas, in accordance with standard procedures, following morning/evening routines and hygiene requirements
- Ensure sideboards on stations are adequately stocked, clean and refill cruet and condiment sets as required
- Ensure that all restaurant items and equipment used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair
- Processing credit or debit card and cash transactions using an electronic scanner and cash register
- Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions
- Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items as required
- Address customer complaints satisfactorily
- Abide by safe food and beverage handling standards
- Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of personal hygiene and follow company dress code
- Assist with the training of other staff members as necessary
- Attend meetings and training courses as required
- Float to various areas throughout the Hospitality department to meet staffing needs
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1 year of restaurant and/or café experience preferred
- Ability to adapt to changing customer volume levels and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to be cross-trained in all areas of the kitchen and line
- Ability to follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
- Friendly disposition and willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to educate customer on products and meet customer expectations
- Demonstrate “Outstanding Customer Service” regularly
- Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
