Bus Driver Guide
SunDog Transportation and Tours has been sharing our transportation and touring expertise with international, regional, and local guests for over 25 years. We are Canadian Rocky Mountain transportation experts and a one-stop shop for those who would love to explore our home base here in Jasper National Park. Our staff live, work, and roam the rocky mountains and as a new Driver and Guide you will be sharing the best seat on the bus with our guest.
This position demands a talented, motivated, well organized individual who is confident in making safety conscious decisions for the betterment of our guests. As a SunDog Transportation and Tour Driver you will have the opportunity to drive and guide a variety of different tours across the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Depending on your skills and commercial drivers license, you will be a part of a team that delivers SunDog’s daily connector shuttles, seasonal tours, and private chartered transportation services. You will experience the services and tours SunDog has to offer throughout our training program, training will provide the tools necessary to deliver a great product. We take pride in building and continuing relationships with our guests, wholesalers, third party partners, tour directors, and staff, as a Driver Guide you will be the Captain of our guests experience.
The Role
The role requires working directly with the Operations Team at SunDog Transportation and Tours to best position yourself to give a safe delivery of any of our tours and services. This position will primarily involve driving one of our fleet vehicles which could include a variety of large coaches, mini buses, vans, or smaller private SUVs on scheduled services with guest safety and experience front of mind. Your ability to manage the safety of the bus, passengers and share the stories of the Rocky mountains will take shape during our training program. However the majority of the job will be your personal ability to deliver and manage your bus and guests according to the tour of the day.
Key responsibilities of a Driver Guide:
- Conduct a safe, orderly, and fun sightseeing tour.
- Manage pre/post trip safety assessments and logs from a digital Mobile.
- Provide live tour interpretation on sightseeing tours.
- Efficiently keep to a scheduled itinerary.
- Providing exceptional service to our guests.
- Being warm, friendly and welcoming to all guests and team members.
- Promoting partner attractions and online reviews.
- Professionally handle guest queries and concerns.
- Complete all passenger paperwork for entry into attractions.
- Communicate respectfully and tactfully with Dispatch and schedulers.
Qualifications: Education and experience
- Possess a valid Alberta or equivalent Class 4, 2, or 1 Driver’s License with clean driver abstract. (Q Air Brake endorsement will be consider an asset)
- Guiding qualifications: Interpretive Guiding Association certification, ACMG qualifications, public speaking courses all considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a customer service role or bus driving will be considered an asset.
- The ability to work well both independently with minimum direction, and as part of a team will be required.
- A strong problem solver with good time management skills is necessary.
- The ability to lift luggage up to 50lbs required.
- Proficiency in the English language required, proficiency in multiple languages considered an Asset.
