SALARY: $29.32 to start, Hourly rate will increase to $32.25 after 12 months

Who we look for: The Job Developer / Workshop Facilitator will be responsible for equipping, supporting, and securing employment for all Job Development graduates of The Community Service Sector Career Pathway partnered with United Way and Employment Service Providers throughout the Greater Toronto Area. You will support the organization by running Employability workshops for all graduates to prepare them for work opportunities. This candidate will develop strong professional contacts/relationships to liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as Employment Service Providers, various community partners, and educational institutions.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized, motivated, and productive individual who genuinely cares about the community and has the desire and ability to tackle a high volume of work amid completing strict funder deadlines. This individual must be able to manage confidential organizational information and applicants’ personal information with absolute discretion.
What you will do:
Job Development:
- Establish a database of Employment Service Provider employers to identify job leads to find suitable employment opportunities for graduates;
- Secure employment opportunities for graduates according to established funder requirements and internal monthly targets;
- Develop and implement a marketing plan to identify opportunities in the hidden job market;
- Collaborate with employment counsellors to identify clients’ skills, abilities, interests and profiles, and focus job development strategy accordingly;
- Assess employers’ eligibility to participate in the program and workplace capacity to provide a positive work experience; negotiate subsidy level with employers (if applicable);
- Assist graduates in creating targeted resumes and cover letters; review resumes and match graduates with employment opportunities;
- Maintain accurate case documentation in internal systems/databases and monitor placements, including follow-ups, surveys, and outcomes; provide statistical reports;
- Evaluate work sites to ensure safety standards and appropriate training conditions;
- Provide employers with administrative support and assistance with program procedures and guidelines, including preparation of training agreements, training plans and contracts;
- Make presentations to individual employers and community agencies to promote services and candidates.
Workshop Facilitation:
- Facilitate individual and group workshops for employability workshops such as Health and Safety, Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Career Management, Job Search Readiness, and Job Matching;
- Assist with job search activities and other employment needs;
- Prepare and submit monthly report; Input and update participant information in database system;
What you will need:
- University degree or college diploma or related work experience;
- Sales and/or marketing experience is considered an asset;
- Possess the ability to plan ahead for contingencies and identify solutions to problems;
- Knowledge and understanding of labour market trends, coaching and mentoring approaches to support job seekers that are distant from the labour market;
- Self-direct with a strong work ethic and a professional attitude in the work environment;
- Exceptional communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written;
- Excellent facilitation skills; proven ability to deliver individual and group sessions;
- Ability to be respectful of and responsive to individuals and communities facing social, economic and cultural barriers in society;
- Proven ability to outreach to community organizations and employers to promote our programs and services;
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, search engines) and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, MS Teams, Webex etc.
