PURPOSE OF POSITION

As part of the Destination Management division, the Destination Development & Stewardship team drives partner engagement and development through leading and supporting the creation and implementation of long-term, sustainable development strategies for areas, regions, and routes across the province. These strategies and actions are focused on enhancing tourism experiences, businesses, and jobs, amplifying the benefits of tourism to local communities, developing emerging sectors, like Indigenous tourism, while elevating British Columbia’s competitiveness as a destination for travel and investment.

The Coordinator maintains strong, professional working relationships with Destination BC’s colleagues and contractors, and directly engages with communities, regions, industry and government partners to facilitate collaboration on destination development or stewardship projects and initiatives. Under direction of the Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for updating the unit’s financial and administrative systems and processes, maintaining and improving internal databases, coordinating meetings and workshops, and communicating on projects and initiatives to a variety of internal and external audiences.

Success in either one of these roles requires experience in building effective relationships, solid organizational and coordinating skills, attention to detail and strong communication skills.
