Fundraising and Events Coordinator
Labour Community Services of Peel (LCSP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting marginalized workers within the Region of Peel. LCSP provides legal information, education, advocacy, and representation in the areas of employment law, human rights, and income support. LCSP is a project of the Peel Regional Labour Council (PRLC) and a member agency of United Way of Greater Toronto. It also receives funding from the Department of Justice.
Labour Program and Services Portfolio
The Fundraising and Events Coordinator, who is assigned to the Labour Program and Services portfolio, will manage labour and corporate fundraising accounts, and will also help support the needs of the Peel Region Labour Council (PRLC) and Canadian Labour Congress’ (CLC) affiliated unions. The work plan relating to the Labour Liaison position will be updated annually in collaboration with the CLC Peel Region Representative, the President of the LCSP, and the President of the PRLC. Based on the Partnership Agreement between LCSP, PRLC and UWGT, it is expected that the Labour Liaison will work three days per week with UWGT and two days per week at PRLC from January to August and five days per week at UWGT from September to December each year. Any changes based on business requirements will be discussed and agreed on in advance.
Responsibilities
- Organize fundraising events and Community Events for LCSP, PRLC and United Way Greater Toronto
- Examples include: Tampon Tuesday, Labour Day Parade/Picnic, International Woman’s Day among others.
- Foster and strengthen partnerships between various unions and partner organizations within Peel Region.
- Deliver and organize the Labour Advocacy Training Program and other education and training programs.
- Engage in promotion, outreach, evaluation, follow-up, for these events and support efforts to recognize and continued support to graduates of those programs.
- Update and implement an annual plan with stakeholders.
- Develop plans to engage trade unions and unionized workers with the UWGT as well as supporting agency campaigns in support of UWGT
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies and development of funding proposals.
- Proven ability to develop relationships with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of the trade union movement and purpose of unions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Staff and Volunteer management experience.
- Experience delivering or facilitating workshops, trainings, publics meetings, or other gatherings.
- Experience with working in a diverse community with knowledge of anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practice.
- Experienced working in a unionized environment is an asset.
- A full G driver license is an asset.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of social media and other digital media tools is an asset.
- Proficiency with Office Suite programs.
Anticipated start date: August 8th, 2023.
Salary: $62,000.00 with benefits and pension contributions.
