The opportunity:
The University of Manitoba is looking for an Assistant to the University Registrar & Executive Director. This position will be responsible for providing confidential administrative assistance to the Registrar and Executive Director (and departmental Directors) on matters related to the department’s human resource management, fiscal responsibilities, and office management systems. Enrolment Services’ four distinct units are Admissions, Financial Aid & Awards, Student Recruitment and the English Language Centre.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Diploma or degree in business administration or secretarial/office/financial management required.
- Five years directly related administrative experience required.
- Must have a good knowledge of best practices in human resource management.
- Must have financial management training and experience preparing and monitoring a budget.
- Experience with VIP (Human Resource Information System) and Aurora Finance essential.
- Previous experience setting up committee meetings and preparing minutes essential.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and ability to make sound judgements and decisions required.
- Must be an effective communicator with a professional demeanour and have experience handling sensitive situations with tact. confidentiality and diplomacy.
- A high degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software is essential.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral are essential.
- The ability to work independently and as a member of a team essential.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
