Job Description
A permanent full time opportunity exits as an Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness Assistant reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness and Infection & Prevention Control.
Summary of duties but not limited to:
- Provides administrative support services, which includes but not limited to, managing reception, scheduling and calendar management, answering inquiries, preparing/distributing minutes and materials, preparing correspondence, preparing reports, data entry, file/photocopy management and office supply maintenance, etc.;
- Works with Safety Specialist to manage respirator fit testing for the organization including promoting, scheduling, testing, and tracking completion
- Provides administrative support to the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Assists in maintaining Health and Safety policies and safe work practices to ensure compliance with legislation
- Act as an advocate for staff safety, health, and wellness in accordance with the values and mission of Women’s College Hospital
As a role model and champion, you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Job Description
Qualifications
- University Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health Promotion, Health Studies or other related programs
- Comprehensive knowledge of legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Health and Safety Insurance Act and Human Rights Code of Ontario
- Experience with Parklane considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, able to work with a high level of accuracy
- Able to work independently in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact with disciplinary staff at all levels of the organization
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- First Aid/CPR and AED certification an asset
- Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
- This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
