Job Description
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of addiction & mental health education and clinical practice initiatives that encompass a diverse group of health professionals within Alberta Health Services (nursing, psychology, social work, psychiatry, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, addictions counseling and others), and includes targeted capacity building through the Mental Health Foundation, patients/clients and their families. The Health Promotion Facilitator is a member of a team that reports up through the Clinical Practice Supports, Addictions & Mental Health portfolio in the Edmonton Zone. This team provides innovative leadership and works collaboratively with other zone and provincial teams as well as internal/external partners. This role is responsible for the design and delivery of curriculums based on research, evaluation data, policy, and learner needs. The incumbent is responsible for writing curriculum content (including technical content for web based learning), developing and facilitating workshops, creating a variety of education material for learners, developing questionnaires and other assessment tools, procuring presenters, promoting material and resources to staff and practitioners; as well as being a key liaison with other clinical supports to build capacity of staff, and develop strategies to enhance the recruitment, retention and professional development opportunities for addiction and mental health staff.
As a Health Promotion Facilitator I, you will assist communities to be healthier through mentoring, advocacy and education. You will link individuals and/or communities to relevant health resources within the region or province and work with community partners to access, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion strategies. You will participate in special studies and/or research projects and review health-related data and identify trends relative to population health and at risk groups. You will facilitate the development and/or implementation of program specific guidelines in partnership with other stakeholders. You will plan, develop and facilitate workshops, seminars and presentations for staff and communities. You will prepare work plans, budgets and year end reports and provide input for departmental goals and strategies.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education or a related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 years clinical and practical experience working with addiction, mental health and concurrent disordered populations and with established experience as an educator, facilitator, coordinator or instructor. Exceptional facilitation skill and experience in engaging an adult audience and presenting content. Extensive experience in the planning, evaluation and delivery of education to professional adults. Experience and ability to apply a variety of instructional techniques. Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as excellent problem-solving abilities. Must be highly motivated and self-directed, ability to problem-solve and display excellent judgement/decision ability in active situations or limited time frame. Exceptionally strong communication skills with ability to listen actively; insightfully query, and be able to clearly, accurately and concisely respond appropriately to questions and provide applicable feedback to learners. Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking ability to manage the event and achieve the learning objectives within the time designated.
Preferred Qualifications:Clinical skills/knowledge in the area of assessment, treatment, service planning and consultation. Knowledge and understanding of the addiction and mental health system and resources in Edmonton Zone as well as knowing the clinical aspects of addictions and mental illness across all populations and the continuum of care. Experience with designing curriculum using online learning management software. Intermediate knowledge in e-learning software and web-based collaborative platforms.
