Job Details
Specific job functions include:- Accountable for the submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to Bank of Canada, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), Statistics Canada and other regulators
- Focal point of contact with regulators
- Reporting for TDBG financial statements which includes Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), Supplemental Financial Information and certain Capital Reporting
- Develop strategies to modernize the reporting delivery chain and achieve future state vision
- Support key stakeholders for reporting needs and requirements
- Maintain a strong controls environment and audit ready position, by executing existing controls and implementing new controls as needed to ensure data integrity and accuracy
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations in accordance with TDBG policy
- Deliver quality service; set and achieve team performance goals such as SLAs, KPIs and productivity; guide team on approaches to achieve targets through periods of change and transformation
- Coach to ensure operational problems are handled appropriately, and participate in the negotiation and resolution of complex and/or escalated issues where necessary
- Strive for operational excellence through ongoing identification of process improvements to increase productivity, simplify and enable automation where appropriate
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, developments in accounting policies/ standards and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
- Maintain own knowledge of end-to-end processes, internal / external partners and regulatory requirements; guide the team accordingly
- Foster a climate of open and transparent communication within team, FinOps and key stakeholders
Job Requirements
Skills and Experience:- Strong finance acumen – understanding the business and related processes
- Management experience in a finance or operations like environment
- Strong understanding of the financial and accounting standards applicable to financial institutions
- Excellent analytical skills in assessing risk, issues and challenging the status quo; adept at using productivity tools and end-user software
- Skilled at leading, managing and motivating a diverse group of professionals
- Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with various stakeholders at various levels of seniority
- Ability to stay resilient under pressure
- Robust organizational skills with ability to work in a demanding environment and handle multiple deadlines and priorities;
- Has excellent judgment and decision-making abilities
- Must be detailed oriented and quick to understand and apply new concepts.
People Leadership Skills- Builds strong and capable teams, with the skills and talent required to succeed in a challenging and rapidly changing environment
- Provides effective day-to-day coaching and guidance to colleagues; share and teach best practices
- Is able to find opportunities to optimize the allocation of resources across the units, taking into account workload / utilization across the team
- Actively mentors individuals to build organizational capability
- Be an effective coach and offer development opportunities to team members
- Provide meaningful and timely performance reviews, including regular feedback throughout the year to team members
- Engage and work with partners across FinOps, BP and Specialized Functions
- Comfortable leading through change, process improvements and transformation
Additional Information
Specific Educational Requirements:- Undergraduate degree in accounting (CPA preferred)
- 5 years relevant working experience in financial and regulatory reporting areas
