Employment Status Part Time Employment Type Seasonal Job SummaryThe Food Services Worker is responsible for providing exceptional customer services to all patrons of the College of New Caledonia Food Services Program by serving customers, taking payments, and delivering food and beverages. This role is also responsible for maintaining stock within the cafeteria while also ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for patrons and colleagues.Specific Duties- Provides exceptional customer service to patrons by taking orders and delivering orders in a friendly, effective, and efficient manner.
- Performs cashier duties by receiving various payment methods (cash transactions, credit/debit, gift cards) from customers.
- Completes opening and/or closing responsibilities of the cafeteria, including but not limited to counting till floats and completing daily cash/debit reports to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains the cafeteria in a safe and sanitary manner. This includes cleaning and sanitizing furniture, various surfaces, and equipment; and reports any required maintenance or faulty equipment to the Food Services Supervisor
- Restocks all items in the cafeteria, including but not limited to all beverages, baked goods, confectionary items, Grab-and-Go meals, and supplies while ensuring all perishable consumable items are rotated appropriately.
- Sets up for catering activities, as required.
- Operates a commercial dishwasher to wash pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment.
- Reports any required maintenance needs, faulty equipment, and broken/damaged items to the Food Services Supervisor
- You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities.
- You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Food Services Supervisor or designate.
Skills & Qualifications- Completion of grade 10 education
- Foodsafe Level 1 Certificate
- 6 months or more In a customer service-related role. Preference will be given to experience with handling receiving various forms of payments.
- Ability to operate the Point-of-Sale System.
- Ability to operate a Commercial Dishwasher.
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff, faculty, and other visitors.
- Ability to multi-task by performing various tasks throughout the day.
- Previous Food Service Industry experience an asset.
- Physical ability to complete the demands of the position.
