We are looking for a Graphic Design Specialist to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Director, Brand Marketing & Creative Services, the Graphic Design Specialist will contribute to the development and execution of Make-A-Wish® Canada’s (MAWC) branded assets across all channels and platforms, consistent with organizational priorities.
This role can be based out of any Make-A-Wish office in Canada and is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position.
- Develop and provide graphic content needed for, but not limited to, direct-mail appeals, events, website, e-mail, social media, digital and print ads, and corporate and wish granting program documentation.
- Execution of graphic needs for national marketing campaigns.
- Heavy emphasis on creating and delivering motion graphics for various digital platforms (including social media).
- Edit raw video footage into visually appealing and engaging videos that communicate the intended message effectively.
- Incorporate special effects, animation, and other visual elements, select appropriate music, sound effects, and visuals to enhance the overall video quality and create an emotional impact on the audience.
- Enhance MAWC’s presence across digital channels and platforms, strengthening donor engagement and engaging a new community of supporters.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop video concepts, scripts, and storyboards that align with the brand's messaging and marketing goals.
- Stay up to date on the latest graphic design and video editing techniques.
- Strictly follow MAWC and Make-A-Wish International brand guidelines to ensure all materials meet brand standards.
- Works with external suppliers to ensure branded materials and merchandise are created consistently and in a cost-efficient manner across the organization.
- Proactively pitch new ideas for swag, collateral and branded materials to be used both nationally and regionally.
- Develop and execute short and long-term brand marketing goals, in alignment with MAWC’s strategic plans presenting a unified MAWC brand to the market.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education in a Graphic Design-related discipline or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience working on a graphics/marketing team; experience in the non-profit/charity sector would be an asset.
- Proficiency with motion graphics design as well as a strong portfolio of sample projects.
- Broad knowledge, experience and skill in marketing and graphic design with an emphasis on video creation and editing, digital marketing, brand management, strategic communications, problem solving, and team building.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects), Canva, video equipment/software.
- Ability to diagnose opportunities and propose solutions that meet MAWC’s overall needs.
- Ability to sell ideas and concepts.
- Attention to detail while also having the ability to see the “big picture.”
- Self-motivated, personable, and service-oriented.
- Ability to work within a tight timeline and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to successfully articulate ideas and interact with external vendors and staff within the organization.
- A positive, creative-thinker and problem-solver who is enthusiastic about their work, enjoys being a part of a team and can collaborate effectively with organizational stakeholders.
- A clear Criminal Background Check required.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to their first day of work, subject to relevant accommodations or exemptions.
- Qualified internal candidates with at least 1 year of service at MAWC are welcome to apply.
- Hybrid work environment 2 days in-office per week, 3 days remote with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours.

- Works under pressure of tight deadlines, with high volume workload, and with multiple demands, changing priorities.
- Demonstrates emotional resiliency to be able to conduct cold-calls and continue to develop media and public relations.
