Job Description
Due to continued business growth in 2023, we are looking to expand our HR Team! Based out of our Toronto office and reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, you will be the central coordinating point for all Human Resources activities for our Eastern operations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supports the recruitment process including job postings, screening and interviewing, setting up interviews, reference checks, composing employment offers, and pre-boarding for new hires.
- Prepare all new hire set up in the HRIS and ensures employment information is correct.
- Assists with the day-to-day HR administration such as drafting and preparing correspondence, updating HR Sharepoint documents, employment files and HRIS maintenance.
- Completes new hires, status changes and terminations following Workforce Planning Requirements.
- Completes pre-boarding and orientation needs for all new hires, including partnering with provincial orientation facilitators.
- Process all background checks and license applications for new colleagues.
- Acts as the first point of contact for general employment and benefits questions. Exercises good judgment and escalates matters to the Senior Manager, Human Resources as needed.
- Assists in colleague confirmation of employment letters.
- Supports requests for work permits/PNP/visa applications.
- Assist with managing our leave management process.
- Conduct and support exit interviews as required.
- Partners with local management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and guidelines that help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the Company.
- Help maintain positive employee relations and work to ensure employee satisfaction.
- Uphold confidentiality in the execution of the role.
Qualifications:
- Previous HR Assistant or HR Admin experience
- HR Diploma/Degree or a Degree in a relevant field
- Knowledge of employment legislation, including WSIB
- Ability to pass criminal record check.
Demonstrated Professional Competencies:
- Solid verbal and written communication to support candidate recommendations and explain search updates.
- Ability to write and present Employment Offers & Employee Benefits
- Strong listening & relationship building skills along with the ability to influence internal clients.
- Strong detail orientation, analytical and problem-solving skills sufficient to resolve problems or identify alternatives.
- Ability to multi-task and apply a sense of urgency.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work cross-functionally and be willing to assist team members whenever needed.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and deal effectively, tactfully and with complete confidentiality with employees, outside partners, and stakeholders of the company.
